Navigating this minefield called internet marketing involves a lot more work than I originally envisioned. My plan was to read as much as I could on the subject, and learn how to make money online selling. After almost 3 months of all of this research I was no closer to knowing how to start a blog or even where to begin. Up to this point, not a one of the sites I visited provided lessons on how to earn money online or starting a blog much less a full blown website.
Sometime around the end of March I found myself on a site titled how to make money online for beginners. As I read the authors post it became clear to me that this guy knew what he was writing about and would gladly show anyone how to begin a blog that would make money from the internet. I came to this conclusion because this person assumed (rightly in my case) that a beginner was just that, someone who was completely new to writing anything on an internet site.
In a 5 lesson series the author takes you step by step from setting up your first blogsite, writing an article, and publishing said article to the internet. and when I say step by step I mean starting at where to go to create a blog, blogger .com, which, with all of my reading I wasn't familiar with, how to set up your account, and detailed instructions on the correct buttons to push(click) to get started. All of this was accomplished without making one feel like a complete dumbass.
Taking my time and reading everything through on these lessons I, after almost 3 months, had finally started my first blog. It wasn't much of a blog but, it was a start and a huge first step for me personally.
If you're still reading this and in the same boat I was in, follow these instructions from this site: make money using blogs and you'll soon be creating your own websites making money.

Make Money Affiliate Marketing
After a couple of months of reading every thing I could find about making a living from the internet, I read about a business model I hadn't heard of...affiliate marketing. Questioning a friend of mine I was told, Yeah, You can make money affiliate marketing. It's one of the best ways to make money, earn money from the internet. Thousands of websites making money use this business model as their primary means of making a living online.
I started researching affiliate marketing as a means to making a living online.
Basically, to make money affiliate marketing, you install a link on your website or blog directing your visitors to another site with a product or products to sell. If your visitor makes a purchase after being directed there from your site, you make a commission. Simple enough, right?... Wrong!
First you have to find companies and websites with an affiliate program. Preferrably selling something with which you at least have a little knowledge. Most of us have hobbies, interests, job knowledge, etc. that will serve this purpose. Now all we need is a blog or a website set up to sell this product or products. You do know how to create a blog or a website don't you? Well, I sure as hell didn't. I was literally and figuratively putting the (shopping)cart before the horse.
I learned all that stuff from a "beginners" guide to affiliate marketing. Biting the bullet, I purchased a highly recommended guide to affiliate marketing for the beginner. Only cost $27. Near as I could tell the ebook was very well written and researched. Lots of references to sites where one could make a living online. And how to get started. Almost. The ebook made the same assumption common to all of these ebooks to make money affiliate marketing. It assumed I knew how to create blogs or websites making money. Nowhere in the ebook did it explain how to create said blogs or websites.
This business where I could make money affiliate marketing interested me greatly. But, before that was possible I was gonna have to learn how to create blogs or websites making money or both. Until I could find a site offering instructions on how to do that, I read everything I could find that would teach me to make money affilliate marketing.

Websites Making Money
Moving on past my "paid surveys experiment" I, once again, started poring over emails. About 75 a day were showing up in my inbox and spam folders. Some days I would spend three or four hours just reading email. Naturally, all of them were from websites making money. Where were these "internet marketers" getting my email address? Took me a while to learn that information.
I would say at least 95% of my email was pure scam and spam. The 95%'ers were promising me thousands of dollars a month in passive income but, I had to sign up quick. These so called websites making money were very colorful, flashy, and sometimes a bit to loud. They're all jumping on the video bandwagon and some people should not be seen or heard. I'm an old middle-aged reprobate who prefers to read. I retain the written word much better than the spoken.
The websites promising the largest income were almost always free until, you clicked the sign up link. Then the real BS would start. Upgrade to this or that, triple your income by doing so, or at least that's what the sales pages promised.
After about a week of this nonsense, I started receiving a different kind of email. The ones listing sites that were pure scams. Checking out a few of these eliminated most of the sites that were bombarding me daily with income producing offers. Especially the data processing scam that is still ongoing. I never bothered with those anyway. Our best data processors at my former place of work made about $12 to $15 an hour. I hope no one reading this fell for that $3500 a week stuff by data processing. Ain't gonna happen.
Getting back to the websites devoted to listing scams. A lot of those are scams. I really got into those sites because I had to learn what to stay away from. Being new to internet sales marketing, I had no idea what was genuine and what was fake. So now, I was spending a lot of time reading reviews about various websites making money and whether they were legit or not. But, the fact of the matter is, most of these websites are nothing more than shills for a particular webmaster paying for a great review. I found this out by emailing one of the so called scam reporters concerning a great review he had given a site that was getting blasted as a scam by most everyone else. He thanked me for the email, promised he would investigate further and get right back to me. Five months later I'm still waiting.
My internet sales marketing education continues. I will develop my own websites making money. People are getting it done everyday. The learning curve is huge but, devoting hours everyday,(did I mention I'm unemployed?)and a regular work schedule, I'm s-l-o-w-l-y but surely getting there.

Taking Paid Surveys
Upon my entrance into the world of internet sales marketing, I signed up for all kinds of stuff using my newly created email address. I was bombarded with a lot of mail from people and sites all promising the same thing...instant wealth. Well over half of them were for taking paid surveys. There were dozens of 'em in my inbox, and dozens of 'em in my spam folder. I had a blast. I was internet marketing. For a solid month I spent hours everyday reading emails. Didn't delete any of 'em either. Might come in handy down the road. Never can tell when an extra $10,000 a month on 12 minutes a day of work will come in handy. Ever heard anything so ridiculous in all your life?
Not getting anywhere after the first month, (due to spending hours reading emails)I decided to see exactly how much money I could make taking paid surveys so, I signed up to a bunch of survey sites promoted...through email. All that's required is to sign up (with your email address of course) and the sites would email the day's survey. Sometimes I would get 2 or 3 from the same site. My new occupation was gonna be...getting paid to do surveys. First, I would have to complete a survey to see if I qualified for the REAL survey. The one that paid. Somehow, I rarely qualified for the surveys paying more than a quarter. One of the more reputable( no kidding, they really are) sites pays you a 10 dollar bonus for signing up and once you accumulate $25 you get paid. This website, I can't remember the name, will send out several surveys a day, and upon completion of each survey, 2 cents was put into my account... 2 cents... Let's crunch a couple of numbers. Each survey takes 5 to 10 minutes to complete. Very easy. At 5 minutes per survey, the best I could do was 12 surveys in an hour. So, 12 surveys times 2 cents each is...24 cents. For a solid hour of work. That works out to $1.92 for an eight hour day. When's the last time you worked for 24 cents an hour? Anybody? Needless to say, I looked for something a little more substantial after about two weeks.
If you would like to look into taking paid surveys to generate a little spending cash, there are some better paying survey sites than that but, I never could qualify for 'em. However, if you're interested in surveys to make money online, register with Survey Police. It's an excellent forum for websites making money and the best site I know of for information on taking paid surveys. Whatever you do, don't pay for a list of paid survey sites. And you'll get plenty of offers. I still do and haven't taken a survey in months. All that information is available for free. Just takes a little research.
Gotta go. I've got housework to do. I'm an official househusband.
Take your time, do the research, and learn everything you can as you hunt for websites making money.

Websites Making Money
Since joining the ranks of the unemployed,December 2007, I started reading everything I could pertaining to websites making money. With my income suddenly cut off and no prospects in sight down here in the Sunshine State, I knew I would have to come up with something to bring in a little bill money.
My employment background did not lend itself to computer literacy. My computer experience was limited to electronic parts catalogs and purchasing auto parts online with preset factory programs. I had no blogging experience, even email gave me fits. The best thing I had going for me, I enjoy reading and research. But, I was not prepared for the sheer volume of material, online and off, that covered websites making money, internet sales marketing, home based businesses com, and all of the other sites devoted to the make money earn money online business.
My introduction to blogging came from an article in Entrepreneur magazine about a guy making $30,000 a month writing about everyday events in his life. That's about the time I gave up the magazines and started doing what I swore I would never do...surf the internet. Just a necessary evil until I started reading about real people making a living online. Work at home Moms, out of work Dads, grandparents without much in the way of retirement, all seemed to be supplementing their income in a thousand different ways on the internet. I figured if they could, why not me? So now the number one question on mind was...how do I start blogging?
Possessing at least enough sense to create a separate email address for my internet based home business, I discovered, if you sign up for it, they will email you...constantly, along with their fellow opportunists. After signing up for information on a site that was gonna' make me "rich beyond my wildest dreams", I started receiving 75 to 100 emails a day promising or even guaranteeing thousands of dollars a month if I signed up for their system. Costing anywhere from $7 to $997,(everything has a 7 in it), these people were gonna make my life one long cocktail party. I might've been born at night but, it wasn't last night. Besides, I'm a tightwad. Needless to say, I didn't fall for any of that crap. I'm way to analytical, plus...(see tightwad above).
My internet sales marketing adventure is now seven months old and I've actually made a few dollars. Nothing to write home about yet but, I have learned I can do this and armed with that knowledge I know I can, with a lot of hard work, make a living online, right from my own home. I've actually found a few websites making money that I will share with you in future posts. Main thing is...don't give up.
To your success,
Rick
